A birth circle is a gathering of women, and this month, men too! It's a chance to meet people, to share experience and to ask questions about the journey to motherhood in a supportive, pluralistic environment. It’s an opportunity to tell your birth story and be heard, to process your birth story in new ways, to listen to a a range of experiences as you prepare to birth your baby, to ask questions about birth, babies and parenting, to connect with other pregnant and new moms in the community, and maybe meet some birth professionals as well.
Each of JBN's monthly birth circles is hosted by a co-sponsoring institution in different locations around the Boston area and is focussed around a theme.
August's Theme: Customs, Rites, Rituals - What do we bring to the birth process to help us make sense of and feel comfortable through this time of transition? From prenatal visits to affirmation statements, clothing choices to baby blessings, saying psalms to sips of water, lucky charms to welcoming ceremonies.
